Why cut a hole in the roof and why not place it near the window AC?

That looks to me like a smoke stack for a wood, or pellet stove. Going straight out the wall and up is better than going through the roof, less likely to ever develop a leak.

I say that’s at least two or three feet away from the AC, which is probably code, in fact that 45 degree bend you can see stack is make sure it makes code clearance. Plus, you’d never normally use AC and heat at the same time.

Window A.C. units don’t bring the outside air in. They circulate the inside air and the outside air stays outside and is cooling the A.C. unit itself. 😉 🙂 😀 😛

why the hell did the owner of that fucking house put the fucking pipe from the fireplace or wood stove that close to the God damn ac. then again you have to give him credit for doing one of the stupidest things on the God damn planet

For starters dumbasses, when you would be using the ac, there wouldnt be any need for a wood burning stove. And thusly, when running the wood stove, I doubt all the windows are open and that ac in the window.

    ….lets think…..this post is pointless because….

AC is used in summer, heat in fall….see the problem there?

Ac does not take in air from the outside, it circulates the air from inside, thus cooling the room faster and using less energy, they have done this since pretty much the first in-window AC was developed…..

the ac is in the window, but with the side parts, it blocks most of the airs ability to even get in the window. any that does get in will be no worse than that which does not get sucked out and leaks out through the fernace itself, or the pipes….because in the end, there are minimal amounts that do this….yet no one complains about that,….

Sorry Guys, Not even close to Code. The A/C unit clearance isn’t the problem, there is not enough draft air around the spark arrestor to ensure proper smoke draft. The heated, contaminated air from combustion wants to rise, but the stack head has to be above any nearby obstructions. I found out the hard way. My wood stove was installed with a through the wall thimble up 90 degrees to a stove head about 3 feet higher than the roof’s edge. I went to store, when I got home wife sez’ insurance man’s called- he’s canceled our homeowner’s policy. Had to completely change everything and go through two roof surfaces. BUMMER-
