Curved Tree

Yeah I don’t think I would want to live in that house. One good storm and I would be afraid that tree would come down, besides how ugly looking is that?

Tree is not in danger of falling down. At least no more than any tree is. It looks like that because the stupid utility company hacked away all the branches on one side so they can have ten feet of clearance for their power lines. Looks ugly, but better than that house losing all its shade.

lol We have a lot of trees like that around here anymore. I thought the same thing about them being heavy on one side. But they seem to do OK.

Yup, this sort of thing is actually pretty common, though this is a rather extreme example.

But just think, several years from now, it’ll grow all the way around those power lines. How cool would THAT be!!?

(I know, never happen….. I often thought about going around taking photos of all the trees that look like that, lopsided, “Y” shapes. There’s all kinds around here)

I don’t know about the rest of the southeast, but in Florida, this happens to everyone that has a tree next to the power lines. They won’t cut a tree down, but they will butcher it to the point that it looks like crap and is still a threat to the power lines or the house.

Plant a tree too close to power wires and that’s what you’re going to get. The utilities will hack off anything that gets too close to their wires so the tree doesn’t take out their wires in a storm.

They do that all the time here in Maryland and Virginia. I guess it does save on power outages but looks god-awful.
