Spooning Windows

Ok I don’t get it… Why a spoon on a windshield?  Wouldn’t a wash cloth work better?

It’s a plastic spoon. I guess better than nothing if that’s all you have.

I think the idea is not to scratch his windshield in the event of an accidental engagement

He doesn’t want the wiper arm to scratch the windshield until he gets a new wiper blade.

Let’s you use the good wiper on the other side without the arm scratching the glass.

Okay above explanations aside; still, why a spoon? If you’re already in the kitchen getting said spoon, wouldn’t something like a sponge (maybe cut in half, for extra effort) work better? I don’t think in a million years my mind would have ever gone to “spoon”.

Sponge would soak up water and get heavy- you run the risk of putting too much torque on the wiper. Spoon will stay the same weight and have the same amount of friction.
