Just FYI, That ain’t a 55 gal drum, unless thats a two story house with huge windows and a railing that’s head high. More like a five or 10 gallon drum.
the thing is it’s the only item in or on that house that the termites and wood ants can’t eat and it probably is one of the few items that is structurally sound till it rusts out
Probably used it as a form to create a concrete pier. I’ve see the same thing done with 5 gallon buckets. Not a kluge.
