Bubba's Mail

Doesn’t the post office have mail box standards?

Exactly what standard wouldn’t it meet?

They do actually have some standards, but this one would actually meet the requirements. I believe its basically the mail carrier has to be able to put mail in without getting out of their vehicle.

Mail box has to be an approved US Mail receptacle, which if it has US mail stamped on the front it most likely is. And then it has to be the proper height and distance from the road. And of course it has to be kept clear of things like snow so the mailman can drive up to it.

I don’t think the post office cares if you attach the box to the poll with nails, screws, glue, duct tape, etc as long as it meets those guidelines.

A man was in his front yard mowing his grass when his attractive blonde neighbor came out of the house and rushed straight to the mailbox. She opened it, looked in, then slammed it shut and stormed back into the house.

A little later she came out of her house again, went right to the mailbox and this time opened it, looked in, felt around it, then slammed it shut again. Angrily, back into the house she went.

As the man was getting ready to edge the lawn, she ran to the mailbox, opened it, felt all the way to the back, and then slammed it closed harder than ever.

Puzzled by her actions the man asked her, “Is something wrong?” To which she replied, “There certainly is! My stupid computer keeps saying, “You’ve got mail.”

I had mine attached for 3 months with bungee cords after the snow plow knocked it of the post. I Never had a complaint from the mailman. It also helped save the box and post every time it snowed.

There is nothing wrong with this mailbox! Do not attempt to adjust your mailbox! The United States Postal Service will control this mailbox! They will fasten it with proper fasteners, measure it for proper distance from point A and B! They will adjust it from a soft blur and sharpen it to crystal clarity! The United States Postal Service will control EVERYTHING your mailbox needs! WE will maintain control from the inner mind to the OUTER LIMITS! (Cue the funky theme song …)

I see this a lot, especially in the winter, after big snow storms. When the State trucks come sailing along, that flying snow can hit with some force. You can also see it where there is a lot of vandalism.

Around here, we brick the mailboxes in to avoid vandalism..
