This is a dual mess sent in by one of our viewers: “I caught this one in my shop…instead of replacing the boot, they did duct tape….Same car as the axle job…Duct tape exhaust and it don’t leak!”
That’s not duct tape, that’s aluminum flue tape. Tough stuff. I’ve used it on exhaust joint repairs along with exhaust repair putty and it’s pretty good.
That is not duct tape. It is muffler tape. Get your facts straight. LOL
Its ALUMINUM TAPE not duct tape you idiot!
Hey, that is foil for baking the turkey. You don’t spent money on your car, you spend it on tobacco and guns. You want to shoot stuff.
Gotta hand it to the owner for trying to save a buck. It’s not cheap to have a shop replace either the boots or the exhaust. Usually, when the CV boots are broken, the joint needs to be replaced as well. That can run as much as $300.
welll, exccccuuuuussse me for not being the high tech red neck like you genius types. The lady just bought the car, and was wanting to know why it was making noises. Anyone thinking this is the way to safely repair a car needs help. Yes it cost money, you think they last forever?
This one left on a roll back since the same person decided to leave the rest of the front end bolts loose….
doesn’t leak… it’s doesn’t leak. doesn’t, doesn’t, doesn’t.
bravo on exhaust, boo on the CV joint!
Looks like the bottomside of a Ford automobile to me!
