Mailbox security

“By the condition of the box it looks like it was knocked off its original spot with a bat or something. I guess the owner figured they won’t try to knock it off the telephone pole!!!”

My mailbox was hit 3 times in “mailbox baseball”. I’d had enough, so I bolted 2, 6′ 4x4s together to make a post, then lag bolted the mailbox to the post, leaving the bolt heads and washers sticking up inside the mailbox by about 2″. The I sealed the gaps in the metal mailbox and filled it with concrete. I had to have a buddy help me install it since it weighed over 150#. About 10 days later, I found an aluminum bat on the ground with a rather large dent in it. I don’t know what happened to the wrists of the guy who was swinging it.

The little bastards will just smash it to smitherines against
    the pole.
