Ehhh so you have no bumper thats not biggie. All you have to do is attach your hitch to your tail gate and you’re good to go (as long as I’m not behind you).
There’s a reason that “Jeep” rhymes with “Cheap”…
Thou shalt not slur the name of Jeep!!! It’s not this poor Jeep’s fault it’s driver is a total looser!!
It looks like that mess is bolted to the crossmemeber under the tailgate. The tailgates on those Cherokees are made of fiberglass, so it would be really bad, if the trailer was attached to the tailgate. Not that the crossmember of a unibody Cherokee is all that much better.
JEEP = CHEAP
I SAID IT AGAIN!
Soooooo… What are YOU going to do about it, Jim Dandy? NOTHING.
Jeeps ARE cheap junk… And?
That’s a properly installed hitch. It is not connected to the tailgate. The bumper is missing, sure, but the hitch doesn’t connect to the bumper on those cherokees anyway.
This hitch is good. Looks like it’s going into a standard recessed receiver… I see nothing wrong with the hitch itself. The poor resolution of the pic lends to the confusion, especially where it’s not the hitch that is being held on by the liftgate so much as the liftgate is being held closed by the hitch, which is more than ample to make up for the broken latch, as I’m guessing is the case. The trailer is safe. If this was really set up the way the poster apparently thinks it is, it would not have made it through the first turn and brake before reaching the corner gas station without wiping out.
