“The leg to the sink were I work had broken off and been accidentally thrown out by someone before I was hired. It was starting to tear away from the wall, so I desperately looked for something to prop it up. Turns out the vacuum hose extension was just the right size! It took the store almost a year to have the sink fixed. When corporate finally asked me to email them a pic to see if it needed to be repaired or replaced, they laughed and said they’d just replace the whole thing.”

typical corporate waste, nothing wrong with the sink just needs a new leg.
Corporate waste? Not really. Utility sinks like that are not expensive. You can get one like that at Lowe’s for less than $200. Corporate was right with their decision because if they merely kept the leg-jerry rigged, then it would constantly need work.
What they also should have done was to move that outlet. If it’s not a GFCI, it’s not up to code and is dangerous there.
$200 for a plastic sink that is made out of $20 worth of plastic and only needed a $5 replacement leg, and you call that not wasting money?
I hope the OP took the old sink home, for $20 he could have made a new base out of 2×4’s and had a free sink for the laundry or garage.
