Lost your power steering pump bracket for a small-block Chevy? No problem, a cheapo 9/16 wrench will do the trick.
On the side of the road broken down?? You gotta do what you gotta do.
Holy shoot. i love it. I’m doin it. i’m not posting a picture to show you how i got around that problem. There is a reason for this type of imagination: the stock PUMP bracket bolts to the exhaust MANIFOLD at that location. When one switches to exhaust HEADERS, there is nothing to bolt to. What needs to be purchased is an aftermarket ADJUSTING bracket that bolts at the top of the wrench. But, you just blew yer $$ on headers. A bracket will not gain you horsepower. It’s a very graceful repair. Thumbs up!
whatever gets you home man! I had a friend who scraped the shifter pedal off the side of his race bike one weekend at the track. We just replaced it with the longest bolt we could find and several nuts to give it strength. It wasn’t pretty but it got him back out there 🙂
Old truckers of long ago were awful resourceful when it came to fixing things out on the lonely road late at night. A good mechanic can always riggernig something together.
I keep a roll of bailing wire in my jeep just for such occasions, among various tools and spare parts. I keep extra belts, hoses u-joints. spark plugs and wires, air filter, oil and water and rtv silicone. that’s all a man needs to stay on the road if you know what to do with all of it. oh yeah, and a tupperware thing full of odd fasteners, bolts nuts screws etc. i’ve never had to leave a vehicle sitting. EVER! nor have i ever had to have a tow.
This was actually something my brother did when he was putting this engine in a truck and actually lost the bracket. He didn’t want to spend any more money than he had to and this is the result. He sold the truck sometime after this and the last I heard it’s still running.
Hey, it’s Cevrolet, you know, Cracked Heads, Every Valve Rattles, Oil Leaks Every Time!! Or DODGE, Drips Oil, Drops Grease Everywhere! Or FIAT, Fix It AGAIN, Tony!!
That’s why I drive a Honda everyday and my 93 cherokee for fun.
Question is, where’s the headers/exaust manifolds? While this is a good idea, you’d think a missing power steering bracket would be the least of his problems!
he hadn’t put the headers on yet
Nice work, I like it!
I actually really have a level of respect for this! If all I needed was something like that to get me home I would SOOO do this! AWESOME Idea!!!
looks like it fits perfect, even better get a double close ended wrench, which I can’t tell if this one is, but looks great paint it black and no one would even know.
