Planting Pots

Planting Pots

So two weeks ago I closed on a new house and it sits on 2.5 acres.  I purchased it from an old couple and this is how she planted her flowers, shrubs, small trees…  SHE PLANTED THEM IN THE POTS!  Why???  Now if you say its so she can remove them for winter I would like to add that I live in South Florida.  I have spent a week kicking the pot habit!

To be sure, there are biodegradable planting pots, but that’s not one of them.

They threw in some plants quick to sell the house. Duh.

It could be to keep out the nema toads, I know people who bury bathtubs(or even worn out small boats) and then fill them with dirt to do their planting.

    I’m guessing A) or B). Or, C), she’s just crazy.
Thought they were biodegradable, or just popped them in there to get rid of the house.
I’m doing some planting, and was temped to do this, hoping for the best.

Keeps the gophers out of the roots. If you pop holes in the pot as the plant grows it will continue to expand through the pot allowing the plant and its roots grow strong enough to counter balance the gopher.
